What is Alphabet? Google Inc. Is Making Major Changes

The New Google:


Google Inc. has undergone major company restructuring - Google created the holding company and conglomerate, Alphabet, in which Google will be the largest of a collection of companies. The smaller Google will include: Search, Advertising, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Chrome, and Android.  


Alphabet

Google's previous execs, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, will now be the executives of Alphabet. The other companies that will belong to Alphabet were previously owned or connected to Google. These companies include Calico, Nest, and Fiber. Also under Alphabet will be Google's investing arms, Ventures, Capital, and Incubator projects such as Google X.


Sundar Pichai - The New CEO of Google

Lary Page, the former CEO of Google, and now, the CEO of Alphabet, wrote in the press release regarding the birth of Alphabet and introduction of Pichai as CEO, "Sundar has been saying the things I would have said (and sometimes better!) for quite some time now, and I’ve been tremendously enjoying our work together... Susan is doing a great job as CEO, running a strong brand and driving incredible growth."
